About

Riley Barker is a collaborative pianist, composer, and teaching artist. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Music in collaborative piano at The New England Conservatory of Music with vivian weilerstein and cameron stowe and previously studied with Jeanne kierman fischer at the Shepherd school of music. Classically trained, Riley is a highly versatile pianist, having performed as a soloist, chamber musician, collaborative pianist, orchestral pianist, and band keyboardist at venues ranging from converted moving trucks to carnegie hall. he has concertized in the United states at Bowdoin Chamber Music Festival, Collaborative Piano institute, Kinhaven Young artist Seminar, and internationally at Franz schubert institut and the Zodiac Music Festival. He spent five years at New York Youth Symphony’s Chamber Music Program where His trio, TRILOGY, was a semi-finalist at the 2019 junior Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. He is a proud graduate of Laguardia high school of music & art and performing arts (2020) and received his bM and BA at Rice university (2024, piano performance & political science).
Collaborative Pianist
Riley is currently employed through NEC’s assistantship program where he works as an accompanist for the conservatory’s vocal and instrumental studios as well as NEC’s PreP division. He is available for bookings as a vocal accompanist and instrumental collaborator.

TEACHIng artist
While at nec, Riley is pursuing a minor in teaching artistry and Music education. He will work with local music education programs reaching students from underrepresented backgrounds and broadening access to pathways in post-secondary musical careers as well as nec’s community professional partnerships program to develop his artistry and teaching experience outside the classroom. prospective students please inqure about lessons via the contact form or directly at rileybarkerpiano@gmail.com.

Composer
Riley began composing at age 14 at Kinhaven Music school. His oeuvre contains a string sextet, two piano trios, several short works for fusion ensembles, dozens of piano miniatures, and instrumental and vocal arrangements. His recent projects have included producing music for Keyboard, analog synthesizer, and electronics and he is currently working on a cycle of six songs for soprano and piano. His music seeks to subvert the typical acoustic and timbral paradigms of classical music and build bridges between audiEnces of a diverse collection of musical genres.
